I have been in love with technology for as long as I can remember. My parents got a Tandy TRS-80 Model II when I was about 5 years old. I can remember booting up a text base guess the number game on an 8″ floppy disk. From there I was hooked.
When I was in elementary school, I learned to program in Apple Basic on an Apple IIe computer. In middle school I finally got my first PC – a Dell with a 386 Mhz processor. My buddies and I figured out how to use our modems to connect to each other and ultimately to the local BBS. That was the beginning of my love for networking and the Internet.
I have been fortunate enough to turn my passion for technology in to a career. I have been in IT for 20 years. Most of my background is in networking but lately I have been playing with other areas. Some of things I have been working on recently include:
- Cloud Architecture and Design (both public and private)
- Data center Architecture and Design
- Virtualization
- Automation (Python, Ansible, JSON, and APIs are awesome)
- Home Automation & IoT
Personal
When I am not geeking out, some of the activities I enjoy include:
- Motorcycles
- Camping with the family
- Relaxing at the lake
- St. Louis Cardinals Baseball
- Microbreweries
- Wineries
- Whiskey (mostly Bourbon but occasionally others as well)
